    He does have one turkey hen. But the chicken hen he was mounting roosts with those two turkeys. I think she thinks she a turkey

    Yeah my Tom might have to go to freezer camp. The Hen has been acting like nothing is wrong at all so thankfully I don’t think he caused any damage this time but this is the only time I’ve seen him do this. Is it mating season for turkeys?     Uh oh! They both free range but I can always lock up my hens.

    I came home to this…. I thought he was trying to kill her. I called my husband and he said he trying to mount her. This particular hen roosts with the male and female turkey on the cows gate while the rest of my hens roost in the coupe. I couldn’t get the turkey off her I had to get my sheep dog...

    My largest hen Miss Pickles she’s a black copper maran lays what I think are small eggs. Is this common with this breed? I just think it so funny! My Amerauacanas, RIRs and my leghorn all lay pretty decently sized eggs I’m not sure why hers are so small. It doesn’t make me love her any less...

    Official BYC Poll: How Often Do You Clean Your Coop?

    Whenever it needs it really! Maybe one a month ?? I have a pretty large coop. I use nesting box liners that I get from Amazon. They are really nice and last a couple months so I just change out the pads when they get all poopy and scrap their roosting bars and shovel the poop from the coop floor.
