These were sexed. I called ideal before purchase and they could firmed that the band meant they had been sexed as pullets.
I also looked on their website and they have both standard Cochin and bantams... at Atwoods they also had a bantam bin and a standard pullet bin.
From my understanding...
went into Atwoods today and walked out with these 3 feather footed beauties... they all had the ideal hatchery pullet bands so they have been sexed. I am just curious as to breed (I am thinking Cochin due to the foot feathering) and color. Any guesses?
Thanks in advance...
This poor little guy has a bum foot and doesn't stand... going to try some swim therapy and niacin first... then we go a taping.
He is such a sweet heart too...
The brown on the face is what was throwing me on ID...
I'll look at those mentioned too!
Thanks!
Hi!
Hope you don't mind me posting here, but this keeps coming up on my search...
A company in Miami is trying to recruit my husband and we are looking at living in Homestead. I currently have 3 hens...
Are they allowed in Homestead... legally, I mean. I am reading a ton of conflicting info...
Oh goodness no!
I honestly can't stand the neighbor kids...
Talked toy dH and he said Hotwire is worth a try. Looks like we have a weekend project! Most likely, we will put it on a timer so it will automatically shut off when the kids are out and about as well as my brig able to turn it off if...
Our yard is fenced on all sides... but the neighbor kids climb it to see the chickens... I think about liability.
My kids are 1 and 4... my 4 yo I don't worry about with the wire, it is my 1yo...
I've never been around hotwire, so I'm not sure how it works other than shocking the crap outta...
I know training would take time... and I am willing to do that...
I'm just worried that now that she has tasted chicken, there is no saving her... is that true?
I've thought of hotwire, but with my kids, that isn't an option either... Not to mention the cost... We have true backyard chickens... 3 girls in a closed in coop and run with access to the normal sized backyard when the dogs are in the house. We have neighbors on either side with small kids...
Darn! That is what I was afraid of...
I hate to give her up... it feels like we lost our Amelia (the chicken) AND our dog...
Grrrrrrr.... Arrrrrrg..... and such.
A few months ago, we lost our rat terrier (someone stole him to use as a bait dog... it was horrific to say the least), so a few weeks later, we adopted a mix breed puppy. She is quite a bit bigger than our rattie was, but given the circumstances, we wanted a bigger dog. I am no stranger to...
It is low... but I am not sure it will cure the problem...
Since we are building the waterer, we thought we would get a nice feeder at the same time... ya know... make it super nice for our ladies...
We are currently using a store bought 11 lb feeder for our girls, but they have started scattering their food EVERYWHERE!! We have gone through 40lbs of pellets in 3 weeks for 4 girls and the mess is attracting flies and mice, despite the daily cleaning.
I ordered chicken nipples to help with...
