    White Leghorn?

Kind of brown in front, so I'm not 100% sure. (Edit: came from high school science class incubator)

Brown/Yellow Muscous in Eye Ended Up Being a Puncture

Eye drops, antibiotic, and pain med... oh and we're going on vacation tomorrow and our chick-sitter is REALLY not pleased about the extra responsibility. Don't have the names of the meds handy but I'll circle back when I can. Vet said we need to give the sitter POWER OF ATTORNEY.... for a...

The brooder is in our garage, so she's totally out of site. Putting another hen in there sounds like a good idea. Thanks!

    1st egg-then nothing..normal??

Found our first (albeit very small) eggs in our Barred Rock coop this weekend in one nesting box. Same age as yours: 18-19 weeks. We were told not to expect anything until they were 6 months old. Sounds like we have a similar setup. They free range when we're home as well.

For the moment, they free range when we're home and the sun's out. They're 3 months old. Plan is to have a dedicated run very soon.

One of our "all hen" flock just crowed for the first time at 12 weeks old (our first flock). We figured a male had gotten mixed in with our order because, well, it looked like a rooster when it got older, but we were holding out against hope. Kids are very attached so giving him away isn't an...

Got our first six barred rocks from the local feed store. Oh, and one extra. One of them turned out to be a male! We found a nice coop though (image attached). Made to order by some Amish folks. Very sturdy.
