I understand the concern. I grew up with chickens in the northwest so I get where all the worry comes from. It's not like I don't think it's a big deal, I take it seriously. Believe me they are literally padlocked in at night.

The coop has a very solid floor. the gaps are not bigger than an inch. The three huge German Shepards are outside all day. We don't have foxes in this area of Florida, it's too hot and humid. They prefer northern climates. Also weasels are extremely rare here and very small. "While the...

Thanks for all of that info. They are safely enclosed at night with three gaurd dogs who adore them. There is ventilation in the rear of the house. The plastic mesh is for Hawks, and since they are locked up at night I'm not too worried. ive talked to a handful of duck and chicken owners in my...

Ok pros, I need some advice. I have two groups of ducks. Some at almost 4 weeks and some at almost two weeks. They are all ladies But there's a definite difference in size now, and any time the two groups are even remotely close to each other, buttercup and poopsi run full speed to the babies...

Omg so funny! We had the same thing happen with a chicken once! She had been laying under a propped up piece of wood in the neighbor's yard. You can imagine their surprise when they went to use it for a project and there was a nest of eggs underneath!! Sneaky things.

    Please help my baby duck

Was the duckling from a hatching egg you ordered? Or is this a duckling from your own flock? That info may help these ladies get to the root of the issue. I hope you find some answers!!!!

Update on the Metzer deal- gave them a call. They said the label was prepared on the 10th and that they shipped them on the 12th but since they were 2 days old by then, it was going to be difficult for them to survive with no food or water in the box with them. They were very nice and assured me...

They were closed for the weekend. I just wonder how many other orders they filled last week and how many other people received dead babies. So sad! Im going to call today and if they are anything but super helpful and sweet about all of this, I'm going to just ask for a refund. No more ducks...

Wow good to know. I purchased the grow gel and heat packs. Plus there were 10 in there. So they should have been fine, except they opted to ship over Veterans Day last week, knowing there would be a delay. I live in South Florida so their shipping route to me is actually still pretty warm until...

Yes I ordered both. what bothers me most..... Is that I received a call on the 10th saying that because of the holiday they would not be shipping the ducklings till the 13th. But the ship date on the box clearly says they shipped on the 10th. I received them on the 14th. So they were in transit...

Recieved my long awaited order of 10 ducklings from Metzer Farms yesterday. They were shipped through the holiday and as a result were in transit for 4 days! Needless to say - only 5 survived. 50% survival rate... Not so great. It was pretty devastating. They will replace them for me I'm sure...
