I got some straight run cream leg bars. They are 3 weeks tomorrow. All 3 are looking roosterish and one "pullet". I think I grabbed all the straight runs anyway.
Turkey's are alot more delicate.
Where are you getting eggs and have you checked for fertility?
Have you candled your eggs? I like to candle twice with them, one at about 10 days then the week of hatch. I get a lot of eggs that just don't start and 1 in 10 or so that develop and don't...
I know I want about a dozen blue layers (cream legbar?) and a dozen fluffy bantams. I also might get a hatchery surprise box, where alot of the money is I know, but I think I can sell most of those and even out the cost.
Wow 79 dollars a chick! That's really helping me feel better about 12 a chick. I think I had already kinda calculated up what I was buying then my mom asked for some bantams and sticker shock.
I know it depends on breed and that type of thing, but what do you consider a good price for chicks? Straight run and pullets. I'm looking at ordering some online and I've never bought store chickens full price.
What should I take a picture of? I geuss its not broke, she holding her head upright now. Still not standing by herself but she did try after being moved in the house but was to top heavy/limp and fell over. She looks a lot better than this morning.
One of my three month old turkeys fell off the roost last night I think she broke her neck. She's chirping and can stand assisted, but isn't moving parts of the neck or her wings. If i managed to brace it could she recover and live like a normal turkey? Or do I just need to take her out back?
I wouldn't think more than a a day or two, they surely didn't eat much. What's in your ant killer? Some of it is corn based so swapping brands might help keep chickens out or using just non instant grits (the grits swell in their belly and they pop) where chickens can get.
Tractor supply had the last ducklings marked down so I've got ducks. Does anybody know what kind? Sorry about the cruddy picture, the at home ones were worse.
Does this look more like a hen or a tom? It was born may 24 so it's like 5ish months old. It was middle of the pack size wise before a fox got the others.
