    I just introduced my 1 week australorps (6) to my day old buff/barred rocks (4). They seem to be mixing okay, save for some hierarchy establishment, but should I worry about the older ones keeping the littles out of the "cave"?

    My chicks have arrived! They were just huddled together in the center of the brooding bin, so I showed them their "cave". They're quiet now but they're all huddled inside. Is that okay? Do they just need time to warm back up after the trip home? First time chicken owner here :( Thanks!

    Darn...I was worried about that, but found the link to it reading an article about making a MHP. I'll see how it works. I ordered a Premier heat plate too, so I have a backup in case it doesn't work out. The MHP just seemed much more cozy!
