Our 7 hens have given us 7 eggs within their first 48 hours home. I know those eggs were in progress and production will probably drop before it picks back up again but we're all still really tickled.

We have chickens! Thank you Ralph! I realize everyone isn't a fan of Naked Necks but we think they are quite fascinating and our roo is downright gorgeous! Our three EEs are just beautiful. One of the NNs gifted us with an egg on the way home. We are just stupidly proud of it. LOL!

We would get along way too well! Getting together would probably be dangerous (but really fun!)

Great to read about kids learning this stuff early! I grew up in the country but we only raised cattle and of course I didn't appreciate country life then.

The more I learn the more I realize I don't know. Frizzles, frazzles, featherless chickens in sweaters! I love it! The rest of me may not be in the best of shape but my brain is getting a workout.

What is the ScSc gene? Or what is the characteristic of that gene? (I don't even know enough to ask the question.) And, for that matter, I've seen pictures but what causes a frizzle?

Holy Chicken Mansion, Batman! I'm really glad your birds aren't expecting this sort of accommodations, Ralph! Although, if we don't get the rain they are talking about, my friend has given me several partial buckets of paint and I've been toying with the idea of doing a sort of pastel version...

I had read something like that somewhere else, before we got this. That's why I thought maybe it was a place for a broody hen to nest and hatch out chicks without being bothered.

Got the shiny slick floor sprayed with some sort of spray on undercoat for vehicles. That was after this picture was taken. Still trying to figure out the purpose of the little room. In this pic you can see the little opening at the floor. It was put there for a purpose. You can also see a...

Would linoleum be less slippery? We've got a roll of that?

Oh, and the reason for the metal on the floor is because the current metal on the floor is horribly rusted thru in places. Will see about adding something for traction before we screw it down. Thank you!

Danz, I don't know what I'm looking at either. It looks like half a house. LOL, but as Ralph said, not looking a gift horse in the mouth. Just trying to figure out the function of its parts! It was wired for electricity many years ago. There is also what looks like the clamp from a hanging...
