After dinner, we decided to separate two of the roosters that seemed to be causing a problem. Immediately, the hens (and the other 3 roosters) were off the roosts eating and drinking.
I guess I'll finish the construction of the chicken tractor to keep those roosters...
I have a lot of feathers around the coop (21 chickens in all). I think part of it is from the roosters pulling them out, but my thought is that it's most likely similar to humans losing hair. You lose and re-grow hair daily. JMO, so anyone please correct me if I am wrong...
We just butchered a few weeks ago.
It was my idea to get the chickens for butchering, but I just couldn't bring myself to do the killing part (I did everything else though), so my kids did it (ages 12, 14, 14, 15 and 16) - they chose the chop method - used a hatchet.
