    Only shaft of feathers left

I have a frizzle silkie that this has happened too. I don't think it's the porcupine thing because she wasn't born this way. It has just happened. She had beautiful feathers and at about a year old all the fuzzy parts have gone. None of my other hens are having any problems, not even the 2...

    Attacked!!!!

I read some stuff online about thinking about the roosters point of view. He's never been aggressive before so it was probably caused by me scareing him or something. When he attacked me I attacked back which just escalated things. I was then definitely a threat in his eyes. I have stopped doing...

    Attacked!!!!

Mine attacked me 3 more times today. The last time I was in the coop getting the rest of the eggs and he came in and attacked over and over. I finally kicked him, not hard but firm, and he missed the door opening a bit and hit the wall. He shook himself off and ran away. He didn't get near me...

    Attacked!!!!

My bantam silkie rooster attacked me for the first time today also. So far today he has rushed me and attacked 4 times. He is small so it is quite humorous but still, he's being a little jerk. It's quite fitting, his name is Napoleon! I kicked at him just t get him to leave me alone. He wouldn't...

I have 1 Barred Rock who lays eggs all over my 7 acres.

What can I do to stop her from doing this. I have found them all over my front yard and today she was out in the field sitting in a nest she had made in the tall grass on an egg I have no idea how old it is. I found egg shells, so she has been doing this for a while and something is eating them...

    HELP! Dog problems

Thank you if will give this a try. I've noticed that last 2 times it's when someone gets home. A car comes up the drive and he goes crazy and starts chasing chickens, donkeys, sheep. He just freaks out. Yesterday he went after neighbor chickens that had wandered onto our property. They've done...

    HELP! Dog problems

Thanks I think it is something like that but also a game to him. Problem in he's at least 100 pounds and so stubborn. I think he knows he's not supposed to but it's so much fun. What makes me the most irritated is he never touched the chickens until a neighbor dog got a hold of one and tore some...

***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Thanks and I feel ya . I'm quite sensitive about the subject right now. I feel all my animals are my family, silly, and there is a problem in the family right now. Makes me all anxious.

***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I would never leave him chained. I said when the chickens were out. You know for a bit each day. I can't leave them out and him out and have him accidentally kill one. I'm afraid he would start killing the neighborhood chickens. Then he would get shot. I needed advice not scolding. Thanks anyway.

***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Thanks, his behavior is very playful. We will just keep working with him. I don't want to separate him completely because he seems to see them as his job. He is very protective. Until he gets that look in his eye, like oooo a toy!

I would never leave him chained up. I love him to death. I just meant when I let the chickens out for awhile each day.
