My least favorite part about keeping chickens is that I can't leave town unless my one daughter is home from college to chicken-sit. It's impossible to find chicken-sitters where I live.
My hen, Crusty Goo Head, is turning 13 this year. I'd post a photo of her, but she's actually the spitting image of Shadrach's Fat Bird. She was supposed to be pure black Orpington bantam, but she hatched with a fifth toe on each foot, copper lacing on her neck, and is bearded/muffed. Instead of...
Thank you both! I have actually been contacted by a couple of interested people, much to my surprise. For future purposes, I will remember George's Feed Store and Funky Chicken. Good to have options.
Aw... THANKS! :jumpy
I hope so, too. He's looking for some ladies to protect. And even though he's a bantam, he's pretty hefty. So he'd probably do fine with a standard-sized flock. If I get to the point where I'm willing and able to ship him, I'll check in with you.
Thanks again!
I'm not quite ready to go to the extreme of shipping him (mostly because I don't know how), but I may in the future. For now, I'm willing to deliver him within the SF Bay Area, although I'd certainly prefer to have him picked up (in Vallejo, CA).
I've got this chocolate Orpington bantam cockerel I'm trying to rehome. Here's a photo of him from many months ago. I'll post a more recent photo later. I just have too many boys right now. I hatched him April 26, 2020 so he's not quite a rooster yet.
His name is Hershel.

His name is Hershel.
