I just got 4 ducks from someone and I believe they have a niacin deficiency. They are about 8 wks old. Is it too late for them? Can they be helped? I Will be buying niacin tomorrow in hopes that it helps.
Well due to a coyote the Momma is our last grown hen and we have one nasty rooster. While in the run, they are safer during the day. I thought about maybe dividing the run in half? I have two coops for them to use. How long does it normally the for them to get use to each other? This is my...
Well I had a broody hen hatch 2 chicks. They are now 3 weeks old. I also have 10 chicks inside in the brooder. They are 4 weeks old. Each day the Momma hen takes her babies out in the run. I recently tried to introduce the 10 chicks to run.. but the Momma is very aggressive towards the new ones...
Well my girl finally has two babies! She was sitting on 4 eggs and 2 hatched last night. I checked the other two but i don't think they will hatch. I also have 12 more coming this Friday and they will be about a week old. I am not sure if I should move my babies from their momma in the coop to...
Hmmm.. that is what I feared. She refused to move the other week when I tried with her eggs. Now that she doesn't have any should I move her and give her another one? We are not short on fertilized eggs. The poor girl has been sitting for 2 weeks and now has nothing. I guess I could try and see...
Update!!
Our eggs have disappeared:( one came up missing a few days ago so I stuck another one under her giving her two again. This morning I checked her and this afternoon when I went back down the eggs were gone. Not sure if something is snatching them or she is moving them possibly...
I really like this idea! Simple but effective and is something I could still do seeing as she has a little over 2 weeks left to sit. Thanks for the advice!
I did give it back to her. I was worried though bc she didn't sit on it the whole night and wasn't sure if that would hurt the development of the egg but I checked today and there is something definitely growing! Will check again in a few days. However, she will not stay away from her original...
Well I moved her last night and when I went down this morning to check she was not laying on the egg at all. She was roosting and the eggs was cold. Should I give it back to her? She has no interest in laying on it in there and it's very cold... maybe next time lol
