Partner has told me the chickens have to go

If you really want to keep your chickens don't make any rash decisions. I'd be asking my husband why he now doesn't want them as I find it hard to believe its just the small amount clucking when they lay. I also would speak to the neighbour to find out what their real concern is - 15 to 30...

    The lonely chicken

I'm saddened that you lost your 2 chickens. We become very attached to them and they bring so much fun to our lives. If you were to get more chickens it seems unlikely you would lose two of three in 5 months sgain. If you rehome your last girl you will miss out on the enjoyment of having...

Chicken Math - I should have taken more heed

Today I finished all of the construction - I couldn't believe it. The kids were so good that I was able to work all day. So I've completed all four side frames, the door, the chicken table (the ground level coop will sit on this), the resting perch (a perch with 80cm by 25cm peice of wood...

Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Megan, Martin may need to slip in an extra bag of worms for you. You've put lots of us onto him. Thanks. Can I check the details of advocate with you. You use Advocate for kittens/small cats up to 4kg. One drop on the back of the neck every 6 six months. This worms them as well as takes care of...

Hi Luke I'm always happy to show off all my girls. This is Chubacca (formerly known as Art, Stella and something else). This is my chicken buddy with one of her chooks Princess. Grace is really enjoying the chooks and helps and play every chance she gets. I enjoy spending time with her.

Chicken Math - I should have taken more heed

Thanks for your birthday wishes Aart. And I can see the wisdom in your words Chickencanoe - I'll need that extra run next November when my light sussex bantams come. Today my wood arrived. Bunnings had cut the 3.6m and 1.8m lengths for me - thank you Bunnings. I sorted out all the lengths...

Oh Cluckcluckluke. Grow my own meal worms! I looked at some photos here on BYC felt queezy as they looked liked maggots and then saw some people use dried meal worms. I can't find any here though. Thanks for the tips Fancychooklady plus I do like your photos. I have a vision of a twinset and...

Chicken Math - I should have taken more heed

Hi everyone I'm very new to chooks - Novemeber 9 I picked up our days chicks. We now have 4 bantam partridge wyandotte 10 week old chicks. I purchased a pre made coop and run. Wet straw in the run

Have you considered sand? I use it in the coop, nest boxes and run. It's easy to clean weekly, doesn't smell and feet are clean. My run is not covered and sits on dirt - we don't get huge amounts of rain in Canberra - when it does rain the run sand is washed. There is a ton of info on BYC -...

Boo hoo my little boys have flown the coop

I was just lucky - I hope. They were also free and all the other ads for roosters at the same time were at least $10. The man lives on a property and was looking for roosters to top up. He has chooks for meat and eggs. Mine were bantams so am hopeful they won't be much good for meat.
