Drowning is actually not that bad of a way to go. Just the first few seconds when you start panicking. My son does some trapping and he will hit them over the head to knock them out then just tie a rock fast to them. They never feel a thing... Except for when you hit them.
I am definitely sure now that it is a hawk that has taken your chickens. I have 1/2x1/2 wrapped around my coop. I Wrapped it around after loosing a chick to a hawk. I almost lost another chicken to a hawk today that was chasing around our chickens that were roaming but luckily my son and dog...
1000 FPS and higher pellet rifle will do the job with two+ pellets. They make pretty quiet pellet rifles.
Also, if possible, try clubbing it. Or you could try shaking the trap and kicking it and just scare the heck out of the animal and it may possibly avoid your place.
Hello! I am wondering if it is alright if my son takes in 4 of our week old Black Star chicks into school for a day. I would drop them off at school and then pick them up later that evening. Just so you know the mentally and age of the students, he is in the 9th grade.
Thank you for the input!
.:UPDATE:.
I have been looking for hackle and or saddle feathers but I am not able to find any. I have also been comparing images (I know this isn't too accurate) of "Rocky" and found out HE might be
"Rocksy". ^^ I will bring more updates as I discover more.
I am wondering if one of my Rhode Island Reds is a cockerel. This is my first time raising chickens and I am having trouble deciding if one is a rooster or hen due to its larger comb.
They are about 2 months and and 10 days.
