She only started laying a week ago and had some struggles with her first egg! I've not checked her crop but will do so tomorrow. She's eating and drinking ok now although she was off yesterday and not interested even in treats. Yesterday she looked very ill and likewise this morning she wasn't...

    Wheezing chicken

This is super helpful thanks! It seems to have cleared when she went to bed which is a big relief. I'll check in the morning and hopefully all is well!

    Wheezing chicken

Hi all, today I've noticed a wheezing and coughing hen. She's been wormed quite recent so I doubt it's gapeworm. So far she's eating well etc and otherwise behaving normal. Here's some videos if anybody can help:

    Hen with unusual poop

Thanks for your help! Very interesting that different breeds have different bowel habits! The Orpingtons also scratch up the grass a lot more than the pekins did

    Hen with unusual poop

Hi all, I recently purchased four Orpington bantams and they're well - however, one of them has runny poop... It smells strong. They've been treated for cocci and also wormed so I think this can be ruled out. I've also tried cider vinegar in the water for a couple of days but the problem...

Pekin bantam loosing use of legs

She wasn't improving. My in law is a poultry farmer and he came to visit so we had him put her out of the pain. Also opened her up to find a tumor about the size of a large grape, everything else looked well. ...edit here's the info if anybody experiences similar in future...

Pekin bantam loosing use of legs

Looks like it has vitamins. Her nails and legs are fine, everything else is good and this is a bit out of the blue. The only thing I can think of is she's always been prone to soft shelled eggs so she should have been given vitamin supplements sooner- also, most days she was given a few...

Pekin bantam loosing use of legs

Hi thanks for this. She doesn't appear to have any swelling at all. She's otherwise well, this morning she laid another soft shelled egg. Here's a video of her sitting to eat this morning, and stumbling a little: She's still happy eating and drinking, but is struggling to get around. I was...

Pekin bantam loosing use of legs

Hi all, we have a near 2 year old pekin bantam who is usually very active. However, around 6 days ago she started to struggle to walk. She would often stumble and sit down to eat etc. She seems well otherwise, she eats well, her poop is normal, and there appears to be nothing physically wrong...

    Bantam laying soft shelled eggs

Hi all, I have 3 bantam hens and my silver laced wyandotte started to lay first, Easter Monday of all the days! She was laying great but the last week she has started to lay soft shelled eggs. She was recently wormed (end of May) with flubenvet and I supply oyster shell in addition to her...

    Lump appeared on pekin bantam

Hi thanks for your response, the lump remains fairly solid when she breathes and as far as I can tell, her nares are not blocked at all. Should I clean them anyway to make sure? If so what would be the best cause of action?

    Lump appeared on pekin bantam

Hi all! I've just started to keep pekin bantams and have noticed that one of my 4 hens has a lump on her face Would anybody know what can cause this and what the relevant treatment is (were UK based)? She's otherwise fine, eating well and no symptoms at all.
