Not sure whats up. Sleepy hen.

She perked I gave them all rooster booster in their water, and added another feeder incase she wasn't able to get to the good food. (They also get ground scratch) she has perked up a good bit, but she still seems to go to bed with a not totally full crop, so im not sure why that is. I kept...

Not sure whats up. Sleepy hen.

I have one hen, Easter eager, who's acting sleepy. I've inspected her head to tail, and i see nothing wrong. No mites, nasty poo, no facial discharge. Shes just acting sleepy? When I get close or make a noise she wakes up, moves, eats, ect. She isn't moving away from the flock or anything. Shes...

    Are these legbars?

Luckily, im 100% sure they aren't dinner birds! They had a pin of them, same age, on the other side of the chick area, and they were massive in comparison. And in person, the colors are so close and not diffused the picture sucks, admittedly. (I did do that much reading on legbars before I...

    Are these legbars?

Got them from Rural King, labeled as 2 diff types of legbars. I am suspicious of the white/yellow ones. I had a broody hen, and my first paycheck from my new job so I treated myself/mama Star. I was thinking the yellow ones were maybe orpingtons?(I dont mind whatever they are. I have some buff...

Silkies: you really CANT sex them until you see them lay or crow.

Unless you mean his ears. Then yes kinda. He has a few close to his ears

No, its the back of the head If you look at his crest, the actual crest is that grey/blue. The bold, long back feathers at the back of his head are the streamers. There's nothing really at his waddles

Silkies: you really CANT sex them until you see them lay or crow.

Ok so usually its a silkie rooster thing! Im not 100% sure if any other breeds have streamers or not, but the only ones I know of that do are silkies. The streamers are super long feathers that come out of the silkie crest, and are very long. You can see them near my pointer finger in the pic...

Silkies: you really CANT sex them until you see them lay or crow.

Nope! They are from my hens and roosters, hatched by one of my broody hens. So ive had to sit and wait for about 26 or 27 weeks to figure out gender haha!

Silkies: you really CANT sex them until you see them lay or crow.

I wont say much, just that all my other ladies have combs so flat you'd think they dont have one, and waddles so small you cant see them. I've watched these 2 lay an egg, so I know they are girls now. Oh, did I mention they have streamers? (Not as long as my boys, but streamers none the less.)...

    Update on silkies genders!

Its been a few weeks since I posted and I am pleased to say, all 3 are girls. The 2 buffs just have some funky crests I guess. Initially I thought they were ladies, but then i was second guessing myself when they had "big" combs. (Micro compared to their dads, but bigger than moms)
