    Thanks for the responses. I guess the silkies are not pure otherwise they should have black skin. That is a bummer that they are probably all males. So the chicks with my Buffs might be production reds? What are production reds? Thanks again, Tina

    1st Chick Hatched Here! Update!

    Congrats on your hatch. I just had 5 of 6 hatch last night. I know it is so exciting. I was in luck though because my son had his High School Graduation last night. Before his graduation we had 6 pips. When we came home I had 5 babies. Good luck, Tina

    My Hen Is confused

    I have 4 BO hens. They are 3 years old now. One of them also crows. She just started crowing a few months ago. I don't know why she is doing this. But she is the dominant hen. I think she is trying to play the male role... Tina

    I had 4 eggs in the incubator. 2 of them hatched, 1 last night and 1 this morning. The other two eggs haven't pipped or moved at all yet. Today is the 21st day. Can I take the two chicks out, they are dry, or should I wait? Thanks in advance, Tina

    Ohhh...I wanted blue/black orp but I couldn't find any so I settled for Buff Orp. It is raining here otherwise I would probably go take a walk also. Maybe I will go out to the barn and play with my other chickens. At least that would keep me away from the eggs for a minute or two
