Got some decent pics of the older three Brahma mixes. Looks like the red is definitely a girl. The other two are OE girl babies, not sure on sex just yet. Though wondering if white might be a boy?

    Flock/Life Journey's 2019

That makes sense! The two that died were suffocated, so we think the plate was too high so they were standing on top of each other and those two didn't make it. I'm looking at videos on best height for different ages of chicks to help me better understand for next time. We did put heat lamp back...

We took heating plate out for now, repositioned heating lamp, and we'll see how they do tonight. We took temps and the heat just wasn't getting warm enough in the cold shed. :( if it gets a little warmer than we'll use plate again.

    Dead Chicks, coccidia or not?

Thanks everyone for your help!! I took the heat plate out for now, and repositioned heating lamp so they have a spot that's warm and a spot coldish. I might try the plate on it's side later as a heater. :love I'm gonna check on them later tonight and first thing in morning :fl

It's a shed so only a little warmer then outside. I'll keep fiddling with the temps and heating items and get them warmer.

    Dead Chicks, coccidia or not?

I bought 12 chicks for my one hatched chick. They arrived Friday, so they are almost a week old. I just got some fresh vitamin water for them and all ran to it, including my hatched one. I haven't seen bloody poo at all but know that sometimes doesn't show. I do have corid on hand.

    Flock/Life Journey's 2019

I have not seen any bloody poo, they have been all dealing with pasty butt, so I e seen poo a lot. Maybe it wasn't at right hieght? The pamphlet for it wasn't much help, I had it on top level, when I took the passed away ones out I lowered it down one level. I think my feeder might be too big...
