What breed could this chicken be?????

Thanks! What color eggs will she lay? She should start laying at any time, she is about 5 months. Although it has been quite hot, she may not lay until it cools. Thanks for your input. Pat

What breed could this chicken be?????

Okay I bought this chicken from Atwoods as a chick. Cute as a little one....black feet and thought it may have been a black maran. Well the older it got, I am not so sure! No cone and she is so black that she has blue tints in her feathering. Any ideas as to what I may have here? She has not...

    Removing id clips from chicks

I just got 3 baby pullets from Atwoods. They have these clips on their wings, I was wondering how to remove them or if they need to be removed. Also they were just labeled pullets wondering what breed they may be, when the stores get new chicks. I have bantams so I would guess it would be okay...

    Maybe a broken toe......

A few days ago I noticed one of my hens favoring her right leg. She and a few others do free range sometimes and thought she may have gotten a burr on her foot. She wouldn't let me near her so I kept her quarantined for a few days to observe. Well she began to walk around on it so thought...

    Help with Run Design

We have transformed an old playhouse swing fort into a coop. So far the enclosure of the main coop is going well. But my question is how to attach a run to the coop with the roof lines going in different directions! The main coop has a a frame type roof and the run will have a slanted roof for...

Just in case you're not a believer in daytime raids...

I also had a tragedy last night! A coon also:somad I have a chicken tractor inside a dog run. We just had put 2 baby chicks we had just hatched in the bottom of the run part of the tractor. Not knowing how small of an area a coon can get into....the top of the run is that 2x4 inch wire the rest...

    UPDATE...w/pics "Slaughter by a masked marauder...I think?" I Know!

I just lost one of our hens and 2 new baby chicks last night to a NASTY COON! We thought we had enough extra chicken wire around our dog run. (with chicken tractor inside) but the little devil found another spot and got inside. He was able to get into the top of the 2x4 inch wire on top of the...

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers for us here in Texas with all the fires. Finally I think most are contained. Went and got regular chick starter this morning and got the chicken tractor they are all in ready so that mommas can get them off the nest when she thinks they are ready. I put hay...
