    Taking a broody hen’s eggs

Lol I’ve heard of balut. Never tried it. There are very few things I wouldn’t be brave enough to try. That is one of them.

    Taking a broody hen’s eggs

I’m not sure, they could be. The chicken eggs most likely. And the ducks too. I don’t have a male Muscovy but it is my understanding that my Ruen or Peking drake can still fertilize the eggs and produce infertile offspring. However, when I incubated eggs this past spring, non of the Muscovy eggs...

    Taking a broody hen’s eggs

Thank you. That is very helpful. I wasn’t able to get them from her yesterday but I did the day before. I prefer not to let them sit on their eggs because then everyone starts depositing their eggs in the nest. Duck, chicken, doesn’t matter. A couple weeks ago I had a different Muscovy sitting...

    Taking a broody hen’s eggs

Good morning. I am wondering how long an egg can sit under a broody hen and still be okay to eat?

Duck eggs... one hard, one soft?

Sorry about your Muscovy:hit I have three along with a few other water fowl and chickens. This could happen with chicken eggs as well. Be sure you are providing calcium. I use oyster shells. I also save my egg shells, boil them and give them back to them.

Are you giving them oyster shells?

    Confused roo

Hello. I have a young roo (less than 6mo) that keeps mounting my ducks. Should I do anything?

    Lethargic and skinny roo

He is handsome. And he makes beautiful babies. I hadn't even considered EE. Thank you all. @Eggcessive I will try the watery mash with PND. Thanks!

    Lethargic and skinny roo

Update on Mr Rooster: today he is crowing a lot more and louder. And he’s fighting me in giving him drops by beak. It still doesn’t seem like he’s drinking on his own very much, or eating other than the scrambled eggs. Does anyone know what kind of roo he is? I’m trying to figure out how much...

    Lethargic and skinny roo

He’s about the same as yesterday, a little more active. I’m continuing with eggs and berries and NutriDrench. I’m still waiting to hear back about the Newcastle test, but I don’t think he has it. He’s not showing any symptoms of it. Plus he’s the only one not well... Thanks for checking in...

    Lethargic and skinny roo

Good news guys! Today I woke up to my rooster crowing! Not a whole lot, but it’s something. He’s also standing and is much more alert. And he ate a scrambled egg on his own! I’m so happy.

Technically the county is, but we haven’t been effected up here in the mountains. Hopefully it stays that way

    Lethargic and skinny roo

I’m located in the Angeles Forest, California. I have been using a medicine syringe to give him some food mash and water. Tube feeding might be a more efficient method. I will pick up some NutriDrench and try that as well.

    Lethargic and skinny roo

He’s in a coop by himself now. I tried giving him a scrambled egg but he won’t eat it. I tried to put some in his beak but he just shook it off. I left a little bit in the coop for him and he’s sleeping on it :-/
