    Broody copper maran

    Well, 3 days in my shower seems to have worked - she's running with the other girls and i think she even laid an egg yesterday. Hard to tell since I have two copper marans - thnx to all who responded.

    Broody copper maran

    This is second time this little gal has gone broody - after putting post on Nextdoor in my n'brhood - I was told to "lock her up" which I did - for 2 days. She shaped up for a very short while - now she's doing it again, so I put her in my shower for 2 nites & let her out this afternoon...

    my copper maran hen (not even a year old yet) no longer lays, but sits in laying box - that everyone else wants - and keeps their eggs warm - i pull her out when I'm up there - but what to do??????

    Looks very clean and tidy; but I don't understand your laying boxes. Can yu show pictures of them open, please? Thnx - I, too, have metal shed; but my young girls just lay on each other & break their eggs, choosing just one box.

    modified diet during a molt?

    Since I just ordered 50# of layer feed, I don't want to get something else. I think perhaps increasing protein intake, but not too much. I know I'm a soup & french bead fanatic during the winter, but I don't molt; but with colder weather adding a bit more protein surely wouldn't hurt.
