Thank you! Terramycin seems to keep the irritation at bay, but not fully treating. She has ZERO respiratory symptoms or any of the others you noted. Can I get the eye drops without a script? That woukd be great!!! I’m willing to try!
My 4mo Wyandotte pullet has swelling that showed up over a week ago behind/around her left eye. There were no other symptoms: no nasal discharge, no bleeding, no pus, no bubbles in her eye, ear canal clear…. Just swelling that began to spread to the extent that it was causing her eyelid to swell...
No evidence of mites or lice, ear canal clean, she’s not messing with it. Have one assertive older hen that my 4 younger hens try to avoid. Hoping it’s just an isolated irritation. Grabbing some terramycin this afternoon to apply and see if it helps
My 4mo Wyandotte has swelling around her eye. No other symptoms, pictures from early July show no issue. None of the other 4 hens have any swelling or symptoms! What can I do to help her?
Our easter egger has been laying normal beautiful eggs since she first started at the age of 7mo (in December '18). But in the last few weeks, things have changed a bit. Once or twice her shells were very thin and she was only laying every few days. Now she seems to be back to a normal schedule...
We are in the midst of the Polar Vortex sweeping across the Northeast. My girls have experienced many temps below freezing and even single digits, with no issues. However, this morning 2 of them have a pinch of frostbite on the tips of their comb. I don't have the ability to bring them in &...
I didn't think about the fact that chickens have all the eggs they'll produce already inside. Makes sense to me to let them lay eggs naturally. Interesting article on both sides
Clipped just right wing of each hen 3 weeks ago....they "fly" by jumping and falling with style. Though they cover some good distance, they don't get too high off the ground. So far so good, they are thrilled to be out in the yard. Thanks for all the words of wisdom :)
9 weeks old. I can't tell if comb has 3 ridges b/c it still looks flat, no red color. Tail feathers look stiff/rounded like hen but tail is always held tall! Hackle feathers look pointy, saddle feathers round-ish....not feisty or aggressive, just skittish
I'm confused. I thought clipping wings was supposed to be done in a unilateral fashion. aka....you only cut one side because its the unbalanced wings that noticeably accounts for their inability to fly.
