Indeed they are. 🦖 I was actually pretty pumped to know they could help reduce the mouse population. I don’t think they are eating mice too regularly, but I’ll try and limit it. Thanks!
Hey gang! I just want to ask if anyone out there has chickens that hunt, kill, and devour mice (and other small rodents), and if so, whether or not you use their manure in your compost pile! Thanks!
Poor roo. Hopefully he will be able to have a high quality of life despite his disability. I am sure there is a way to allow him mobility, mental stimulation, and socialization. Best of luck with whatever you decide. I’ll be following this thread to see how things develop for him.

I feel this is what happened to us, but at Murdoch’s, in Missoula, MT. Last year we thought we were getting a Welsummer and she turned out to be a he and a Road
island red. This year, a jersey giants/austrolop (we shall see...) instead of a barred rock. Annoying.
Hey BYC!
We bought four new chicks from a feed supply store 5 weeks ago and one of them was supposed to be a barred rock pullet. She has not developed any barring and I am concerned she is not a barred rock at all... any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Thank you for your repl Mrs. K. I just know that it is good practice to cut the air pipe of game animals to prevent spoiling and to cool the body down faster. Any information helps.
Our almost mature rooster just died unexpectedly. I want to preserve his cape and saddle feathers. Do I need to cut his trachea and drain the blood immediately? Please help!
