I have a year old orpington with a swollen and cloudy eye. She also has a runny nose. She doesn't seem to be rattling or having trouble breathing but her eye looks terrible. We just brought five new hens into the coop the day before yesterday but they've been in a cage within the coop up until...

We are considering letting our broody hen sit on eggs from a nearby flock (not ours) to let her hatch some out and get it out of her system (we have no roo). Should we be concerned about transferring disease from one flock to another? Can we clean the eggs before we let her sit on them and if so...
She gets all puffy when I try to move her but she doesn't seem particularly grumpy. I got her up tonight and she went to the feeder and ate a bit. She looks fine on the outside but I'll see if I can feel something in her abdomen. Would it be obvious? This is clearly the question of a beginner...
If she's broody would you suggest I just let her be? Can I swap out the real eggs for fakes? Does she just brood until she gets it out of her system so to speak? So many questions...
One of my 6 hens has been staying in the nesting box for two days now. She doesn't seem to want to leave. We normally get 4 to 6 eggs a day and the past two days we've gotten only 3. Is egg binding a possibility? If so how do I tell if this is her problem? And...then what?
Thanks, all! Very helpful. Based on these comments I think maybe I do have all pullets (fingers crossed!). I'll wait a few weeks and see how things progress. If I'm still not sure I'll post some pictures for you all.
This topic is clearly VERY popular! I have three BR's which are supposed to be pullets but (call me crazy) I swear one sounds like a rooster when she "talks". "She" is the biggest of the three at ten weeks but overall looks similar to the others. Are there any tell tale signs for this breed that...
We've just moved our chickens to their new coop outside and are not sure where we should keep their water. They spend their days in the outside part (with access to the house via a ramp) and their nights locked up inside. We have been keeping the water outside to avoid getting the inside wet but...
