    When you put chickens on grass for the first time, how long will it take to turn the yolks to more of an orange color?

    1st slaughter

    We just ate our 1st chicken we raised, it wasn't bad but the flavor was definitely different, it was a cornish x. Guess I was expecting a different flavor it was kinda "earthy" is this normal or did I do something wrong.

    I have 6 hens they went outside for the 1st time Saturday, it's been nice out everyday, they are scratching and pecking the ground they haven't touched there feed the 1st time and seem to be drinking very little as well, in the brooder they ate well and drank 2 quarts of water aday.     My chicks went from the brooder to the coop last night, they came out this morning and have hid all day, very little food and water, I understand there's probably a little shock but how long does this typically go on dont want any dead birds

    They are 5 weeks old and my fence holes are 2x3 I put them in there today 30 seconds later they were out in the yard, just looking for something temporary

    The coop that I keep the rest of my chickens in the fencing is a little big for my young birds still maybe another week or two but the tote they have been in is too small, I need a temporary idea for about two more weeks, I put them in a large dog crate without the tray and they loved the grass...

    I have a mixed flock of 5 week old egg layers I went to feed this morning and I noticed a few feathers, is this normal to loose feathers this early

    I have 16 chicks that are 2 weeks old, they are pooping machines, any suggestions on how to combat the smell. They're in my back room til they are big enough to go outside.
