    Using Chickens For Fertilizer?

    Chicken excrement is considered a "hot" fertilizer, so you need to let it sit for at least 3 months before putting it on plants, or you'll burn them (with nitrogen). That said, it's an excellent fertilizer, once cool. :)

    These days I use an actual carton for overflow. At one point I had collected more than 85 eggs and they were just everywhere, in the spiral, in the egg carton, in bowls, etc. Its so nice to get to share the abundance with family and friends when we can!

    Oh no! I had no idea. Thanks for sharing. I've only ever seen their stuff from their website or their Instagram. Was planning possibly ordering from them in the future, but I'll likely refrain given this new information! My girls are all from McMurray and they're healthy and happy.

    What about a smaller breeder - Alchemist Farm is in Sonoma County and their ladies lay gorgeous eggs. I'm not sure if they're sending any chicks anymore this year, but they'll start doing so again in the spring.
