Is anyone in the central part of the state interested in splitting a load of transitional layer feed (17% no soy)? I buy it from Buckwheat Growers in Wadena, MN. Send me a message if you do :)

I purchased this door also and love it. The only time it did not shut all the way was when a big piece of chicken poo froze in the door frame and physically blocked the door. I grabbed the magnet, opened the door, removed the obstacle, and everything was back to normal!

I am currently using a heated water base also. It works fine but puts lots of humidity into the air. I am going to order some nipple-style drinkers and use a bucket with an aquarium heater. I think it will make a big difference in the humidity and therefore comfort of my birds.

I'd like to hear how you water your chickens in the winter if not inside your coop. Would you share your method? Thanks.

My adult female is setting on her third nest this year--seems a little late...I took away the other babies to raise but she seems determined to have some for herself! Has anyone had any luck moving a nest after dark? I'd like to put her in a caged pen with a box for her nest to keep the...

Happy winter here in North Dakota!

Yes, last summer. The chickens are soooo eager for green grass and bugs! That's a shot of my #1 rooster. Meaning that he gets to boss the other rooster around. He seems to be a mix of Turken and EE. I think.

Hen placing feathers on her back???

I happened to witness on of my hens walking around the coop, picking up feathers, and placing them on her back. She is missing a few feathers from that spot thanks to the ever attentive rooster but the patch is far from bald. Has anyone else seen their hens do this type of behavior?

Who has ever smashed an egg or eggs in your pocket(s)?!?!

I stopped at the coop before getting in the car to drive to work. Not until I was at work and put my hand in my pocket to find my keys covered in gooey egg did I remember even putting it in my pocket! The ladies at work all thought it was pretty funny.

Happy winter here in North Dakota!

Hello--nice to hear from others in ND that raise chickens. I am wintering (I guess they call it spring technically now...) my first ever batch of chickens. They are now a year old. My flock consists of 19 chickens (17 hens and 2 roosters) and 3 guineas. My flock is an interesting mix of...
