Last post for clarification. First my sister and I bought a bunch of sex chicks, 80% (of surviving chicks) turned out to be male. We lost several immediately due to coccidiosis. Made sure we had medication for said coccidiosis after that. Bought more pullets last year, after an animal attacked...
I'm done talking to and about chase hatchery (well, unless I lose any more chickens). I am just putting up a warning. And if you want to buy there, wait a few months and see if this time the owner can keep the facility clean and there are no more issues with disease.
First Chase hatchery, Luvpolish was the one who called those with bad experiences names. I'm sorry but I suspect Luvpolish and chase hatchery to be one in the same. Also, having more than one person have chickens die from Marek's type illness and having a necropsy show with one customer that...
The one with the most black around it's neck became very aggressive and my sister re-homed it as it was attacking and biting her daughter and drawing blood overtime she went in the coop to change water and to feed. The lighter colored was is definitely a pullet and very sweet.
Tho, I agre with Luvpolish (whom I suspect is Chase Hatchery), don't take my word for it. I'd check it out for yourself. Tho, wait until later in the season when their facility isn't new. See if this year she actually keeps it clean and not the filthy conditions of years past.
Are you kidding me. Watching your beautiful, happy and seemingly healthy flock die horrible deaths with Marek's (and one customer having a confirmed case after having her bird tested after losing her flock) symptoms is not due to people being spoiled and nasty. It's heartbreaking. Marek's isn't...
Didn't she say they changed where they got their eggs from and that now it's from certified disease free breeders? Again makes ya wonder how much she knows. I'm so hoping that it's the Leukosis and not Mareks too. All my pullets were coming in to lay when they were struck down, one by one. I got...
I wish I could've afforded getting mine checked but all 4 died of the same thing and it was all signs of Mareks. I currently have my 2 older girls who so far have survived this and got 4 chicks in February. I now have no choice and have to buy vaccinated chicks from the feed store. So far...
The chicks are currently at my sisters. I will be picking them up next week. I will try to get her to take more photos. One Delaware is hers and one in mine. They are both sexed feed store chicks so I know they won't be the best quality. My worry is the fact that my chick has such different...
One of my chickens recently started having poop that looked like this (sorry for the gross picture) and I just wanted to make sure everything is ok. Everyone is eating and drinking well and no one is acting sick.
Wow. It's on her website too. I'd like to know how she got certified after the conditions I saw? the NPIP means nothing to me if this place is certified. I really wish I would've taken pictures of the filth. When I returned a Buff Orpington cockerel that was supposed to be female, she just...
No one around me has chickens. I had a happy and healthy little flock until the fox got it. It was devestating and the one survivor was badly injured but I nursed her back to health and you'd never know she was hurt. She's back to her happy, healthy self..
Those three pullets I bought from her...
Due to the filth the chicks are kept in, it's no wonder many of her chicks are diseased. I don't think any of her equipment has ever been cleaned and I've seen her Throw new chicks into filthy brooder boxes.
After my (new)Orpington got sick with what I suspect to be Mareks (the leg paralysis...
