I have honeybees and made some mason bee nests. Mason bees give you no honey. Honeybees are lots of fun. This is a fairly expensive hobby, but once established all of it is reusable . Make sure you are not allergic to bees before you start.
Very important ! Place your hives in a corner of your property with least traffic. In fall time bees more likely to sting you if you close by. Like others I would recommend 100 feet away. Again , in a corner with least traffic. I keep my bees in wooded area as well . I keep them two cider blocks...
In response to dutchbunny83. Rabbits do bruise themselves sometimes . I would recommend to leave a little guy in a cage. Ribbits are very messy putting them in a dog box can be very frastrating . Stuff like cabbage, celery, carrots raw grass very often upset bunnies stomachs . My suggestion is...
Hi I'm not sure if you will like this idea. We had a useless boat on my property as well . We made a composting bin out of it . We putting all out food scraps, grass clipping, rabbit manure In it. I purchased some of those red composting worms. Now I have very useful boat that will never be...
I live in no restriction area. So I can't even let my chickens free roam. Because everybody's dogs are walking where they want, that is a big problem . So enjoy your neighbor chickens , maybe they will like your place better and reward you with eggs . :-)
I too, lost 50 percents of my bees. However here in my area I noticed that bees straggled in winter . Our mild winters is the reason . At night it's very cold in day time warm. Bee have very hard time with these extremes . This year I'm trying an internal heaters . So far results are promising...
I got my containers at a dollar store. For chickens you don't really need to wait for 6 days , three day is enough . Water often and dump run offs often( because it gets smelly ,fast) . You will definitely get you money back pretty fast .
I hate to hear that you have this problem. There is one more thing you should try; relax. Animals do have to go through this . I had very similar issue with goats.my existing goat were very mean to new coming girls. I always tried to " help" my newcomers .than I just relaxed and let nature take...
It seems to me ,That you might want to try separate more aggressive bird from your flock. Not you newbies. I m sure you noticing that not all of your older birds as aggressive as few individuals. Good luck and have fun.
Hey guys. You make me feel welcome here. Thank you. My uncle used cinders from our grill for chickens to dust in. He said It really helps them. Have any of you tried that?
