3 silkie roosters out for blood

I happened upon 4 silky roosters someone had heartlessly dropped off on the side of the road to fend for themselves in coyote and Fox country in November. Personally, I just couldn’t imagine doing that to a chicken or any living thing. Regardless,I was able to corral them and brought them to my...

    Losing feathers

I have checked her and the other three of my flock for lice and mites and found none but treated them anyways. I try to keep their coop impeccable. I just did a complete spring cleaning a month ago. Full litter change, spray down, diatomaceous earth… The whole works. They’ve always been on ACV...

New baby duck can’t lift her neck

Don’t put her down. If it’s her time to go, she will pass and if it’s not, wouldn’t that be a blessing if you were surprised and got up one morning and found her prancing about.

    Losing feathers

My chicken seems fine. Someone suggested spraying her with blue-kote, but I can’t imagine why/how that...

    Bare spot on chest

Hey Coach. Well, now I know what vent is. And she’s covered with what looks like Mike and Lice both. What do you recommend for treatment? Depending on who you ask, there’s all kinds of answers, but since you sent me down the right path, I’d like to ask you what you use. Thanks again.

    Bare spot on chest

I should’ve noted that she seems to be eating fine and moving around not lethargic. Also since I’ve got them I’ve only been getting three eggs a day, so I’m guessing that she’s the one not laying. But as I said, I am new to chickens, and I haven’t a clue.

    Bare spot on chest

I’m hoping someone can help me. I’m new to chickens and I recently got what I believe are Rhode Island reds. One of the girls has a bald spot on her chest and also her tail feathers look wet. I’m wondering if she’s molting or if it’s something else. I’ve attached two pics for reference. Same...
