I had this issue for awhile and got really tired of putting them all to bed every night! I took down all of the roosts in the run for a few weeks and then added the lower ones back in, making sure the ones in the coop were the highest of anything. Once in awhile one will get stubborn, but...
The issue started in late winter - the first for me with chickens - when I switched foods to a more whole grain mix. Turns out, a few of my girls are picky eaters and were not getting enough protein, they started a pecking issue in my flock where everyone was pulling out feathers around and...
And this one also mentions Inositol Hexanicotinate that was talked about on a Niacin thread I was reading on this site - as the version not to use - and puts it in the same category as Niacinamide so then wouldn't Niacinamide also not work?? Getting more confused...
Ok I'm getting a bit confused on the niacin type issue. This says that niacinamide is a derivative of nicotinic acid (niacin) and is the "flush-free" version of niacin. So wouldn't I be looking specifically for nicotinic acid since it is the flush-inducing version...

They were raised with my chickens on organic, non-medicated chick starter, and now grower, with brewers yeast mixed in. They have access to the backyard and a kiddie pool every other day or so, and get fruit or veggies or sprouted grains and some mealworms every day. When this first happened, I...
My 3 month old pekin has injured herself twice now trying to get the attention of her boyfriend, my other pekin, same age. He pays no attention as he bathes and plays in their pool and she flattens herself as much as possible, squacks at him, and pushes at him, all but crawling underneath him...
Hi, new poster but I've been getting a lot of my info from you wonderful people. I am new to birdraising, other than a childhood cockatiel, and currently have 6 silver-laced Wyandotte chickens and 2 pekin ducks, all female except one duck, all about 3 months old. I'm finally officially joining...
