What was recommended was Zyfend A. I do not believe it works.....
We normally feed them standard layer pellets with a 7way chicken scratch as a treat or other veggies like cabbage, cucumber and the occasional watermelon leftovers.
As far as a necropsy, no. just a visual external exam looking...
I have recently lost three hens. I have been trying to determine the cause. first, there is no evidence of predator damage on any of them. Back in August we noticed that they started molting and next egg production dropped of (as expected). We went from 7-9 eggs a day to 3-4. Then about 3 weeks...
I had some extra time at work and came up with this....
This hen is still giving us eggs that routinely go over 78g. Her record so far is 87.8g!
(Disclaimer: The items in yellow are official from the USDA website. The other names I made up. The weights are extrapolated from the oz/dozen from...

I have a 5 1/2 month old cockerel needing a new home (or dinner plate :) ).
He is only aggressive to me. He leaves my wife alone.
He is a beautiful Sapphire Blue Plymouth Rock (so I was told at TS).
He is in my profile picture.
I am in the upstate of SC and like to find him a new home.

I think one of my hens is trying to show off and see how big of an egg she can lay.
They are all about 20 weeks old (sapphire gems) and have been laying for about a month and this is is what we found this morning. The large one is nearly 73g!
My Sapphire Gems started at about 16 week with tiny or shelless eggs then the rooster took notice of them at almost 18 weeks and then it has been about 3 large eggs a day from them. now my rooster has taken interest in my white leghorns (19 weeks) and the are now laying. :)
Just be patient it...
I Fell into the trap of the prefab coops that stated for 6-8 chickens. All too quickly i found out that my 6 was quickly out growing the coop. Luckily i work for a truss company designing trusses. i designed a 8x16 run with a 4x8 raised coop. here is a picture.
Here are some pictures of my flock. They were all supposed to be pullets but as you can clearly see I ended up with one cockerel (Thanks TSC!). He is beautiful and very protective of his ladies!
The 3 sapphire's are laying, sporadically. Still waiting on the WLH's to start. They are all about...
