Yep, here's another asking "Do i have roos or hens?"

I'm pretty sure, at LEAST one is a roo, because i heard a crow. I just dont remember which one. I know these have EE, in them, other than that, i don't know what. They SHOULD be of the age to be laying.......IF they're hens. They were born Oct (ish). Any suggestions, on how ro tell?

    The Olive-Egger thread!

Here is my Olive egger, heir apparent, (his father had an untimely demise-coyote, most likely). He's an EE (light green) x BCM cross. The picture of chicks are BCM X EE (light grey) and either BCM x barred rock or black star.

    Bald spots on chickens backs

Well, this WASN'T the way I wanted to solve my featherless backs, but I lost my Roo and a hen (coyote?). I kinda liked the guy, despite featherless backs, he was a good protector of the girls and NEVER EVER threatened us. RIP Maury

Black Copper Maran Pullet or Roo

I have to amend my assessment of who is who-Edger, now has "tufts", like his mama an EE. SO...Edger is an EE X BCM (should be an oliver egger roo), and "Olive," is a black star x BCM). I'm glad Edger is a roo now, since my post, I lost my BCM Roo and a black star hen (coyote?) So, Edger is the...

Your EE looks exactly like mine. Her name is Annabelle, she's a flighty thing, but is much better after I got rid of my old roo, and got my new one, a Marans. I have my first "olive egger" pullet-that's 5weeks old. Waiting to see the color, she'll lay. What a lovely roo you have!

No. She was black with a little white on her neck & she still has white tips on a couple of her wings.

Trimming claws, then? My girls aren't sliced, just some of them are bare backed.

I was going to ask this same thing. I don't want to replace my roo (he's a BCM,nice to his girls, and nice to be around). Can I trim his spurs? He really doesn't appear rough with the girls when breeding, but he is kind of a big guy. My barred rocks aren't missing feathers but my black stars are.

Green Egg Envy: Our attempts at breeding our own olive eggers!

Kind of following this thread. I have an EE that lays light green eggs. After my hand raised roo (Wyandotte) got aggressive and went bye bye, I decided to get a Black Copper Marans and see how olive egger I can get. I've never been much into chickens, but having grandkids come over, I wanted to...

    Adding a new roo, tips?

Well, just to give an update. Went to load him into carrier and before I shut the door, he shot past me. REALLY??!! Now this little bugger is loose, luckily the girls wanted nothing to do with him and would just chase him off, but didn't pursue him. After all day, on & off, attempting to slowly...

Thanks for your reply. Ok. That settles it. He's going back. He HAS been separated from the others. Hasn't been in my main coop.
