One year in and we've kept all our girls (and the one we thought was a girl) alive. Today I'm concerned with an odd behavior--one chicken (we thought she was the head hen but now I am not so sure) is sleeping alone on the ground at night.It's been getting below 33 degrees some nights...
Thank you all! As it turns out- by brother in law informed me they were not our eggs but some he got elsewhere. Which makes us feel better that we didnt traumatize my niece, but the mystery of which market sold him those remains....(my niece has since recovered from the shock and is now laughing...
Sooo...the title might cover it. We are the ones that had a rooster this whole time and didn't know it 🤣 (see previous post). So my sister calls me the other day and I can hear my 11 year old niece screaming in the background. She was trying to make an egg sandwich and cracked open...a not done...

So we are really new to chickens (the previous home owners were going to rehome them and we said we could keep them.) One was a couple months old maybe and they thought it was female. Long story short, it started crowing the other day.

I hear roosters can get aggressive. Seems fine...
