I have what I believe to be a drake, pekin. Wiggles
has the drake curl. My question is, why are my male runner/khaki Campbell's mounting him in the pool. I have a female Rouen and she should be laying sometime this month I hope. Just wondering why my pekin is being mounted by my other two.
I sent my hen to my neighbors flock, and they let her know it was NOT acceptable to pull out feathers or draw blood, real quick. She is now getting along with their hens/rooster very well.
Should I chop up the dried mealy worms for the 1week old chicks. I pit in a little patch of grass with roots still attached, and they loved that.
Thanks ahead for responses.:jumpy
I was glad to read your message. I have 5 one yr.old hens, going to be adding 5 more babies, and thinking of 3 indian runner babies. Trying to find out if can put them all in brooder cage together and then introduce them into pen with older ones when time is right. I want them to all be together.
Thank all of you for your much informative responses. I am anxious for Spring as nd the thought of a couple of ducks. I live in northern califirnia and wonder what breed was be the most fun and hardy to raise. I just love this site so much.
I have 5 chickens and am now considering a couple of ducks. Can I put the ducks in with the chickens, or should we build another coop and run. Do I need to have a male duck in order to get eggs from the girls. I would really appreciate some responses. Thanks ahead of time.

Does the color of the small comb (8 wk olds) tell you whether it will be a rooster or hen?
Also my hybrid RIR is black, but getting auburn feathers on chest, and some dark greenish blue tail feathers?
I'm new to chicken raising, and bought these as "sexed" at local Feed Store....
I have also...
It was strange seeing your post on here, as I was born and raised in Lakeland Florida.
I am living in N. California now. Hope you find a good home, seems so many are looking
for homes for roosters out here also. I am new to chickens, and have 5 that are 2-3 wks old
now, and cannot believe how...
I am really saddened by your loss. I am so protective of my little ones, and afraid to put them out, but we have a great coop and run for them....but....you just never know....
