    Thank you for all the responses! I will add them to the run during the days but keep them separated from the big chicks by a fence of sorts. And then maybe I will add them in a crate to the coop at night for a week before setting them free.

    haha, I meant they are only 5 weeks old so they have had a soft floor so far. They are for egg production.

    I am getting ready to move my 5 week old chicks into the coop outside. The coop we bought has hardware cloth as the flooring which is raised off of the ground.     The coolest it gets for them is maybe 65 degrees. That's good to know that they don't need so much heat.
