Olive oil would work too...all natural and very moisturizing! I have all natural products for my horses and the oil base they use is olive oil. Perfectly safe and very effective.
That's really neat! Did you just use rope?
What a cool photo-
I do have plenty of hiding places, but I still lost that rooster because I think the rooster attacked the hawk when the hawk went after his hens.
I also lost a few silkies to raccoons, those are pesky critters! But now my coop is...
It can be called chicken dust or poultry dust...just make sure you look at the label, pyrethrin was originally made from chrysanthemums and now it is made in the lab, but it is not harmful to the environment like Sevin. There are lots of nasty chems in Sevin. DE is a good preventative after...
Chinito was such a cool rooster, I totally miss him. He was the sweetest cochin boy, never bit and always watched over his hens. I hope you can keep the hawks at bay...I wonder if we could put something like a scare crow in our yards to scare off the hawks....or maybe a fake owl?? Anyone ever...
I always get the heebie jeebies after seeing those things too! Pyrethrin dust is very effective on lice and mites and much less harmful to the environment than Sevin Dust.
Pyrethrin is the active ingredient in most "poultry dust" products...just avoid Sevin.
Good luck with getting rid of the...
I have had a rooster basically scalped, as Southernbelle said, rinse well...very well...with saline solution. If you don't want to make it, the stuff for contacts is a great choice. As threehorses always says, "clean it like you mean it"
and then you probably don't have to do much else.
If it...
I have a hen that looks just like her but with a much smaller comb. Her daddy was a blackstar/redstar mix and her mama was a cuckoo maran. She's black with red feathers all through her neck and chest. Great hen, yours is soooooo cute sitting in that bath!
Are you seeing any improvement from...
I would give them some scrambled egg for protein. Be prepared when you go out of town, have your pets all stocked up on what they need and then you have done your part and your petsitter can't give you any bad excuses.
Sorry to lecture, but I have done quite a lot of pet sitting and unless I am...
Horse wormer can be harmful to dogs and cats...so I would be very careful giving it to a bunny.
What makes you think she has maggots? Do think you could get a picture of the sore spots you mentioned.
Just found this online:

I'm only 12 but i sometimes get worried about my rabbit, she...
I came home a month ago to my favorite rooster without his head or neck (he died defending a hen who was badly injured but I was able to save her, she's doing great)..a week before that I actually caught a huge Red Tail Hawk on top of one of my hens...scared him away and she came away with a...

I got Teva's Ancestry Analysis yesterday...she's a true mutt!
10-19% of her DNA are from each of the following breeds:
Saluki
Rottweiller
Poodle
Springer Spaniel
Doberman
Beagle
less than 10% is
Chinese Shar-Pei
We definitely see the Saluki. They are not a...
Actually "little brown mushrooms" are what my mushroom book says to avoid. Most of the deadly mushrooms have a slimy or wet appearance.
If your chicken is having those symptoms after eating the shrooms it would probably be a good idea to do threehorses flush. If you search for "molasses flush"...
Breeds will probably differ, like my cochins' feet are pretty meaty, while the silkie and Polish feet are more refined.
But they definitely have some cushion underneath.
