Hello from Southeastern Ohio! I'm new to chickens and currently considering coop design, best protection for a smaller flock(4 to 6 birds), and feed( was considering scratch and peck). Feel free to send any pointers my way. We are currently planning everything out prior to picking out our chicks.
My land lady just called.....after my chicks have been paid for...and we have begun investing in a coop and other supplies....and stated that they're a NO GO.
Hello everyone. I'm super excited that my land lady agreed to allow us to have chickens. When we design the coop.... I want to make it very pretty. I want to show her that we aren't going to junk anything up. Do any of y'all have suggestions or ideas of chicken safe plants?
Question about the deep litter method. This sounds awesome. I'm trying to get my run set up. Can this method be used in the run? What about odor? My land lord has been so over the moon gracious and said we could have chickens but I don't want the neighbors to complain of odor. Any and all ideas...
Oat bucket, thank you! I am currently checking out non-gmo organic feeds. I found one I'm very interested in called "Scratch and Peck." I was also advised that I should feed medicated until about 8 weeks....then could switch over. I'm still a little unsure.
I've been advised that I should use a medicated chick up until about 8 weeks old. I found an organic chick food all natural that I'm more comfortable with....so let's have it. I just want what is best for the little chicky babies.
