There is an option on there to see items that only ship local (aka only from US warehouses) so I don't foresee any issues with that.
And if for some reason we do run into issues, then we'll try ordering from Amazon.
Does anyone have any sort of critique on the design I made? I think the only thing we want to change/add is some roost areas going from the edge of the roost ladder going diagonally to the wall.
Do you think we have enough ventilation?
If I'm doing the math correctly, we should have like 8 sq ft...
Yes, where we want to put the coop/run will have shade for the majority of the day. The area in the yard does get some sun during the morning. I believe there is also a maple tree on the other side of the fence (for some reason I cannot for the life of me picture the backyard at the moment to...
Well the past few days have been a roller coaster! After going back and forth with the seller and her brother, turns out we are still able to move forward with buying the house. It's just not going to be as quick as we were originally planning.:D
So as I'm super relieved about that, I'm also...
Well unfortunately just got news that the house we were supposed to be buying, now will not be sold, even though we were promised it. So i'll leave this thread for anyone who may benefit from it, but as of now we won't be moving or getting chickens. thanks for everyone's advice and info
Has anyone in southwestern PA used a metal shed as a coop? If so how's it working for you? Did you insulate it at all or does it seem to be alright during the summer and winter?
I know once we get the shed set up and what not, and after the girls are in there, we may very well change the way everything's laid out.
I know I do want to add more/different roost spots throughout the coop down the line, but this will at least be our starting point.
Should we also add a dust...
We found this shed on Temu. It has decent reviews and seems to be pretty sturdy against heavy wind hold up decent again the snow (which is definitely important in Pennsylvania!)
**Picture heavy replies coming up!
So unfortunately the plastic shed we wanted is now discontinued. But everyone here's given us hope that a metal shed can work. As far as adding windows, we think we may have figured out a (somewhat easy) solution. Instead of trying to buy/fit regular windows...
Okay I wasn't sure if that would be or not. When I think free ranging, I think of letting chickens have free run of a large piece of land; like my brother's in laws for example, have a bunch of hens (not sure how many they've had the past few years, but I know its a decent amount) and they let...

Thank you so much for that answer! I really appreciate it! I did notice that the natures best organic non gmo does have less protein that some of the others we were looking at. Maybe I'll try to convince the SO that organic isn't the best way to go.
I can't truly free-range them...
Could I ask why you don't feed organic? I'm not criticizing or anything! I'm just curious and trying to learn.
I don't really have a preference if it's organic or not (as long as it's non-gmo) but my fiance wants it to be non-gmo and organic, so that's what we'll be going with.
