Duck eggs... one hard, one soft?

My Muscovy started laying eggs last week, and they were all coming out with a hard shell. Yesterday I went up, she had laid one hard shell and one soft shell. At least I think it was hers, we only have one egg laying duck and the rest of the flock is chickens. The eggs are about the same size...

Breed for one, gender on the other.

I have a dark Brahma that was supposed to be a pullet, but I’m thinking based on the coloring that it’s a cockerel. However, I don’t see pointed hackle/saddle feathers. The other one, I know is a pullet, but I have no idea what breed she is. Or how old she is. I do know she lays small/medium...

Lavender Orpingtons - is there an easier way to tell gender?

That helps a lot actually. I think the oldest are probably 10-12 weeks old. They are all different ages.

Lavender Orpingtons - is there an easier way to tell gender?

I keep looking for the saddle feathers but maybe they are just too young yet to come in. Their comb and wattles are bigger and red which is why I think they are cockerel, but that’s the only sign I could tell right now. I’ve just read that they could be more difficult to sex then other breeds...

Lavender Orpingtons - is there an easier way to tell gender?

There are quite a bit of males, from what I can tell. The woman I bought from said that about half are males. Thank you for that information! I did not know that. If I do decide to breed them I will remember this.

Lavender Orpingtons - is there an easier way to tell gender?

I don’t have the room to separate... I do plan on getting rid of some of them because I don’t need that many roosters!

Lavender Orpingtons - is there an easier way to tell gender?

A few weeks ago, I picked up about 40 Orpingtons from someone on Craigslist. Most of which are Lavendar’s, a couple black, and a couple blue/white (best guess) and black/white. Is there an easily way of telling if it’s a cockerel or pullet aside from comb/waddle growth? They are all mixed ages...
