    More than ready for eggs!!

We actually did replace the dowel with a 2x4 on its side and took the roost out and replaced it too. They are doing great, we got our first egg yesterday and another one today. What are the girls doing when they squat down and stomp their feet real fast? A few of them have been doing it the...

    More than ready for eggs!!

They are red sex link, bought from a reputable hatchery. They seem very healthy and are settling in well. We are feeding the a laying pellet and they have access to oyster shells. Plus we have been giving them veggie scraps from the kitchen. I'm sure it's just a matter of time, no doubt they...

    Pallet Coop

Thanks everyone!! Our girls were supposed to arrive at the feed store tomorrow but delivery has been pushed back a week. So disappointing, can't wait til they get here. Well at least it may warm up a bit more before they get here.

    Pallet Coop

They were $60 each, so not too bad. They are just a simple shed window with sliders.

    Pallet Coop

We are totally new to chickens, we decided to build our coop with pallets from the local airport. We used milk crates for nesting boxes and an old antenna for a roost. Hope this works, the girls will be arriving at the end of the week.
