Anyone interested in taking 4 free ten week old ISA brown pullets in the Houston area? We live in katy. They are all healthy- we are just a little too busy with work to give them much attention and a little restricted in the areas that they can free roam in our backyard.
After weeks of struggling with messy pine shavings and the poop smell, I have finally upgraded to sweet PDZ in the coop. As soon as I dumped it in the coop... my 4 nine week old pullets rushed over and started eating it! Would they die from it? Is it safe?
Second this- when i initially tried to shuffle them back into the coop it was JUST starting to get dark. I did it for my selfish reason because I wanted to start relaxing for the night and didnt want to deal with chicken later. Then I tried a couple of times to shuffle them in around 8 when it...
Mine are 9 weeks now and have been going in on their own! I There is hope!!! Don't give up :D!! I did the whole pick one up and stuff her into the coop only to have her come right back out while I'm trying to catch the second one and I did it every night for 2 weeks. One night I just thought-...
Hi guys! I have four nine week old ISA browns. It’s been incredibly hot and humid in Houston lately so I got some electrolytes for them. Turns out they love the taste and really drink it up all day every day. Is there such thing as too much electrolytes for chicken??
Hello- can you tell me what's on the ground of the run? is it a mixture of dirt and some kind of straw? I am in Houston and am having same problem with my chicks panting...
Unfortunately not.... The patio is our only option with shade at all. And it is completely shaded. Rarely any rays of sun under the patio. It is really just the overall temperature and humidity that bother them...

Hello! My four pullets are about 8 weeks old and I have finally added in a larger roosting bar ( curtain rod like, wood, stable and round) a few days ago. The bar is currently about 10 inches above the ground. I've been noticing the chicks sometimes falling off the bar and scaring themselves...
Can I trust them to just learn to roost on their own as they come to age? They seem to do that on and off but ultimately still all prefer to cuddle on the floor to sleep...
Update- I added a higher bar in the coop for them last night. At first they went in and stood on it but soon all jumped off and cuddled in a pile in a corner like they always do.... Then this morning I saw that they were all sleeping outside the coop. This is the first time in a long time that...
The chicks are about 8 weeks old. They are ISA browns so I heard they start laying a bit early like around 16 weeks. They have been in their coop with an attached run for 3 weeks now and they have been doing well. During the day they hang out in the run and at dusk they go into their coop on...
