if you do have a pooling problem, try adding mulch (obviously not ones treated with chemicals). They will soak up the water when i rains and is great compost too!
I used an old shipping crate I got from work, added some beadboard, painted it. Got free hardware cloth too. Total cost was 150, The ondura roof, screws and latches cost the most for me. Orchelyn has a really nice coop for 3/4 hens that is 199, kind of a good deal and almost the same price.
@ dusty road, yeah, about the latches, I only spent money on the cabinet and the hardware cloth, I used the wire from the hardware cloth so to not waste materials. and yes, I was poked a lot! I will be posting my coop soon, which the girls live in now, we are working on their run with a garden...
This is my easy/cheap brooder idea. I didn't want to use a rubbermaid tub or cardboard box because I have a 20 lb cat that A) loves cardboard boxes B) loves to chase birds. So I needed it to be Kitty Proof. Once my coop is almost all complete, we will converting the brooder into a nesting box...
