    Barred rock hens?

    Since my last breed I thought was a hen wasn't hopefully these for are. They were sold as a barred rock 90% sure to be hens. Is this correct?

    I have a chicken dark one about 24 weeks that hasn't laid yet. I believe it's a type of Maran (came as a mix bag). It hasn't started laying yet, but has started crowing like the rooster. Is it a rooster too, or is it maybe hormonal?
