    5 Little chickys hatched out last nite!!! all our own so far, buff orpingtons:) one of my marans just pipped and im waiting nevously for my swedish hens and last surviving 2 lavender opingtons 3 more of my own have pipped! Noelg

    Toes dont look to bad, if it were mine i'd do nothing, now if she cant walk in a bit or is splay legged, then there is something you can do to help, did it with one of mine. you splint her for about 3-4 days and they come out just fine. theres a thread with pics on how to do it on here. myself...

    yup sounds like you covered it. my broody mama here is a silkie, altough this time im doing it with a bator. just make sure there is water and food, and dont make the water bowl deep, those newborns seem to throw themselves into it. And if its a staggared hatch, watch very carefully the babies...

    k i need some advice, incubator STINKS! i know something in there is bad, cant find it. candled and got rid of three quiters this morning. Everyone looks good and is veining and moving. but i cant see thru the maran eggs well enough to confirm dead. what do i do? before it explodes! Noelg

    Bargins eggs are nice and dark, thats my marans in my bator now:)shipped fabulously! double boxed and individually wrapped and marked for type of maran. so far so good, most are developing nicely as far as i can tell, cuz they are very chocolate! Noelg

    Candling a dark colored egg.

    HI I just went to home depot and bought a coast px25 flashlight, came home and candled my dark maran eggs and it lit them up good! i could see peeps moving at 7 days incubation its 208 lumens and was 40 bucks. hope this helps noelg
