Within the last couple years we've noticed fewer and fewer small hatcheries and breeders available in our area. Their pages go blank, or say they're taking a season or three off. "Bealy Idol" is the Bielefelder cross rooster. Not sure of his lineage, but he's reported to carry the blue egg gene. Looks like gold to me, not silver. He's got the mahogany though, that's for sure.- NoJugular

Oh thank you, friends :) This is all fantastic. I'm in favor of the summary that: ~ If it's a boy, the daddy was a Buff Brahma (silver from mom); ~ but if it's a girl, then the daddy was a Silver Deathlayer. Baby's comb looks like an imperfect single, so it's likely p/P, but possibly p/p...- NoJugular

We also have a Barred Rock rooster. His babies are obvious =). Mamma has a Pea comb, but it could be rrPp or rrPP. The Deathlayer has a cushion comb (which could include "r" and "p"). So, it is possible that they produced a chick with a Single comb (rrpp). I'm still stuck on the idea that mom can't pass Silver to daughters; but maybe she provided...- NoJugular
