    Help limp rooster

My mom had a bunch of different chickens but had an ameraucana roo. She hatched some on my birthday in april So I assume he's half red and half ameraucana. The hens are pretty birds.

    Help limp rooster

That's from July of 2016. He was just a babe, had nubs for spurs. Still fought off a Fisher cat. We live on a river with nothing but eagles and hawks. I let them range, only when I'm home. My roo has always taken the best care of our girls. He chased off a flock of turkeys last year. Was pretty...

    Help limp rooster

No injuries that I can find. The leg that looks kinda funny is the one that the Fisher cat cut open right where the feathers start 3 years ago. It's always looked red spotty like that and he steps hard on it like it's numb. But he gets on just fine. He's a great roo. As for the little bit of...

    Help limp rooster

His breath is not smelly but his crop is squishy. He only ate a little today and he has been drinking just fine. I'll check his crop in the morning before he consumes anything. He isnt in a sling but he's in a litter box with towels in it to cushion his legs until I make the sling

    Help limp rooster

I've been looking all over to see what he could of gotten into but I've found nothing in the area to account for the blue tinted poop. In fact I cant find the blue poop at all now. his poo is consistently runny now but normal green and white and clear. His legs looked normal to me. No frost...

    Help limp rooster

Thursday I had my 4 hens and 1 roo out free ranging after work and I noticed my roo walking real hard. He's 3yo and in his first year, protected his girls from a Fisher cat. So he's always had kind of a "bum knee" i call it. But the next day I got home real late and he wasn't roosted with the...

    Small scale Breeding question

I just wanted to make sure it was okay because the one I'd like to hatch eggs from is his half sister. Wasn't sure if it would be like inbreeding.

    Small scale Breeding question

I have 4 hens and a rooster. 1 hen is a silkie and the other 3, including the roo, are of the same father but different mother's. Would it be okay to mate my roo with his half sisters? I got them from my mom's flock who she incubated some eggs from. The hens lay very good and big eggs. And the...

    Battery operated water heater?

Hello, I live off the grid and don't have "extra" electricity to run to the coop. Are there any battery operated heaters? I've only seen ones for like.. Horses and cattle. I assume it would be a little much. Any ideas?
