    I got them in February and they started laying in June-July somewhere in that time & I do not supplement light. And could you explain what molting is?

    Dead chicken today

    I have a smaller flock, I had 11 but today I went out and noticed a dead chicken. She was roughly 4 1/2 -5 months old. There was no visible damage I could notice and the other chickens didn’t seem to be on edge. What would possibly cause this? Thanks

    Does anyone have recommendations for keeping the water from freezing this winter. I live in northern Michigan and it gets pretty bad in the winter. And also should I close off the ends in the winter so they have another place for cover Thanks

    Coyotes

    Yes they do have a coop to go into for the night. They haven’t come out yet but I’m trying to stay ahead of the game. I saw a woman who has a bunch of reflective tape around her area of ducks. Is that something that might help with hawks during the day?

    Yea I used to do that but this time they are free range. I didn’t know if the sound of a person talking on a radio would keep them away
