Hi from Eastern Carolina, I have 12 hens. 5 Jersey Giants, 1 Americana, 6 Sexlinks. This is my first flock, my girls are so much fun. I am enjoying every minute of the time I spend feeding and cleaning, however my favorite thing is just watching them interact from my chair in the yard. Looking...
My hens came from 2 different locations, the second batch came from north of us about 120 miles. They have been with us a week, I feed them Layena and scratch, some produce from the kitchen. I know that they may not lay until the spring, should I be feeding Layena when they are not producing?
I'm a newbe and finding my way slowly with trial and error. We had a rain storm and my run was a bit muddy I put out some wheat straw and all 12 of my hens went to town on the grass. They seem fine.
OUR SECURE COOP AND RUN ARE COMPLETE NOW WHAT WE NEED TO FIND ARE SOME HENS 17 WEEKS TO 25 WEEKS. THE BREED DOESN'T MATTER AS WE WOULD LIKE TO BEGIN OUR "GIRLS CLUB" WITH ABOUT 6 TO 8 HENS. ANYONE IN THE AREA KNOW ANYONE WHO WANTS TO SELL SOME PULLETS?
