The girls have been given to the nice couple and they should be at their new home by now! Sad for me, but at least I know they'll be in a nice big flock again after all those dang raccoons took their sisters. Victory screeeeech :yesss:

That was the original plan. Raise them old so they can be the teachers of the new flock, buuuut life be life-ing. At least the new plan still involves chickens, but that'll have to wait until after we set up a coop and everything, lol.

So I'm having to move and, unfortunately, it's not affordable or practical to take my hens with me. I've got 4 free range layers raised from chicks, and currently they're nearly done molting in preparation for winter, so no worries about last minute molting right when freezing temps arrive. And...
I'm a few years experienced with chickens, but I have about a decade's worth of bird experience thanks to my grandma. Like me, she loves birds, which helped a lot with understanding their behavior, needs, and, of course, improving my pain tolerance to beaks and claws. 😂
