Hi all! This is my first summer raising chicks...I want meat and eggs, and friendly birds since I have small kids who will pretend they are pets :) I'm wondering whether it is better to have dual meat/egg birds or seperate breeds, and what breeds people recommend for good "pets". Thanks!!

Don't have any chickens yet, excited to get started...starting completely from scratch. Am hoping this site will give me all the info I need to get started....biggest questions I have so far: 1 - where do I get chickens?...do I buy chickens or chicks and do I need them sexed? 2 - how many...
